DRIFTING UP 22570 KM / DAY 334 / FEBRUARY 13, 2012 - 10:12 / MT HOOD, USA
I`m definitely changing climate zones - trees with leaves and palm trees are replaced by naked ones and deserts by snowy fields. I took the train from San Francisco to Portland, an absolutely beautiful 18-hour ride. The views were amazing and in between I found time to edit my Mexico story.
San Francisco to Portland is quite a big jump to make in the US, but I have to find the balance in the stories I am doing and how much time I spend in each country. I wanted to shoot a story on logging. However, because of the winter and the economic crisis, the work is very slow. Further, I think companies are suspicious about what I want to do. I switch to a story on Mexican migrant workers on dairy farms instead. Running after Dutch cows might make me feel at home, but it`s clear that I`m not: a majestic volcano, called Mount Hood, greets me when I arrive.
